The mermaid effect is all over the beauty-world. I first saw it in hair, as an all-over color, probably teal, and styled on a young person’s head, but I was immediately drawn to the color. At the time, what a rare hair color to see. It looked stunning.

What this trend communicates is the presentation of the daring use of colors: the way it’s captured in different lights and how it moves in waves of hair, reminding us of the ocean and the mysticism and beauty of mermaids. To me, it communicates a feeling, like the one you would get if you spotted the rare mermaid- an absolute thrill…

As gorgeous as mermaid hair can be, the trend is super clever in that there are varied degrees of expression. A flash of color, perhaps, is your preference of expression. Enter Mermaid Eyelash Extensions! Superior to colored mascara, they are like regular lash extensions except supernatural shades like royal purple, kelly green, and sea blue are softly blended to enhance your eyes. So how does it work?

Colored lashes enhance your eyes like certain eyeshadow colors do. For example, purple-hued shades make green eyes pop. Apply the same logic to Mermaid Lashes. Purple lashes play up green eyes, green lashes for brown eyes, and blue lashes amplify blue eyes.

However, Mermaid Lashes are completely customizable, and can be a mix of all three colors on any eye shade like you see on me above, it’s that forgiving of a trend! It looks amazing on anybody and everybody. I was surprised at the subtlety and the simultaneous fierceness of my lashes in different lights and proximity. Come and see for yourself, this trend really is an “everyday” look just as regular lash extensions are! Upkeep is no different, where you’ll need to maintain them every 2-3 weeks. And artistry has it’s price in that it’s an additional half hour in application time for the initial set (2 hour appointment) but they are SO worth it. They are available at a special price with Kelsey for December, too!
