We all want to look our best throughout the holiday season, but the added stress, loss of sleep, skipped exercise and change of eating habits can leave your your skin looking sallow and tired.

The good news: Here are some Holiday Skincare tips you can do right now to ensure your angelic “glow” during this season and going clear into the New Year.

The best place to start is with preventative care – as soon as possible.

What can also help? Increasing the moisture in your skin.

  • A lot of the skin stress that appears during the holidays, including dark circles, can be the result of a lack of moisture. This is particularly true in our colder climate. Once you begin drinking alcohol, you add to the dryness. One way around the problem is to trade up to a richer, more emollient moisturizer, beginning right at the start of the holiday season.

Curing a ‘Skin Hangover’

Holiday SkincareStaying up late. Celebrating into the wee hours, overindulging in food and drink, then haphazardly removing makeup (getting bits of it in your eyes), can leave your eyes and skin with a hangover.

  • When it comes to puffy eyes, cold is the answer, and there is no better treatment than cold packs. Lie down and place cold cotton balls or a chilled gel eye mask over closed eyes for 10 minutes
  • Too many cocktails or salty hors d’oeuvres causes your body to retain water making your face puffy. Dilute the salt by drinking lots of water or other caffeine-free fluids, like peppermint tea, which can also ease any digestion issues you may have after overdoing it. Another way around the bloat, is to spend the night after the party sleeping with your head elevated – the higher the better!
