“Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.” The saying refers to the idea that men and women are from different planets, and that each sex is acclimated to it’s own customs and society on their planet, but not to those of the other. A skincare regimen, for example, could be viewed as a “foreign custom of Venus” to the Men from Mars. As men undoubtedly have observed women (a wife, girlfriend, mother, daughter, etc.) dedicate time to a daily skincare regimen, somewhere over the years, it was stereotyped as strictly a “Venus” thing, and less men were paying any mind to their skincare.

To clarify, men and women are from the same planet, but we do not share the same “customs” when it comes to skincare regimens. Real men DO have a skincare routine, and they learned it decades ago at the barber shop when getting a close shave. The men’s skincare regimen is simple: Cleanse, Exfoliate, and Moisturize.

A Cleanser

Cleansing is the first step. Think back to the Barber Shop and the shave service. The Barber used a facial cleanser with botanical oils, lathered it into a hot towel, and applied it to the face. This would cleanse, soothe, and moisturize, prepping the skin for a close shave. Our Ormedic Balancing Facial Cleanser is most like this facial cleanser.

A Good Quality Scrub

Exfoliation is the second step. At the Barber Shop, the shave itself was the exfoliation step. This is where a good quality facial scrub comes in handy. One of quality will have an active and gentle acid (salicylic, glycolic, lactic, AHA) that will do the work for you. Don’t be rough in your application because it’s called a scrub. Apply it by massaging gently, then splash with cool water to finish.

Tip: Replicate the Barber Shop experience by using a hot towel to remove scrub! Use every other day ,as to not overly dry or irritate the face. Our Clear Cell Medicated Acne Facial Scrub will help with razor bumps, ingrown hairs or dry skin patches.

Want to combine Cleansing and Exfoliating?

Our Ageless Total Facial Cleanser is a cleanser and exfoliant in one. It uses Glycolic acid to remove dead dry skin, and clean pores deeply to prevent unsightly bumps. Use every other day if it’s too drying.

LAST STEP – A Moisturizer

Step three is to moisturize. Our Max Stem Cell Creme is luxuriously hydrating, but most importantly, contains the nutrition your skin needs. Men’s skin is a bit thicker than women’s, so why not put the maximum into repairing any cell damage that occurred over the time neglecting a skincare regimen? This moisturizer packs the biggest punch when delivering antioxidants and peptides (to smooth wrinkles). That’s why it’s part of the MAX collection.

Isn’t it encouraging to know that the Man’s Skincare Regimen is quicker and easier than you thought? Just remember the Barber Shop shave service, and you’ll always have a proper guide to taking care of your skin.
