Even the most skincare conscious woman still occasionally sleeps in her makeup, skimps on sunscreen, or forgets to make a yearly appointment to see a skin doctor. We know it might be a little early to be thinking about the new year but we want to share our best skin-tentions that everyone should be able to keep up with in 2016

  • GET A FANCY FACIAL
Skin care resolutions don’t have to be boring and tedious; they can be fun and relaxing! Resolve to get a few quality facials next year because there isn’t a better way to get a deep cleaning, exfoliation and hydration! Facials also help stimulate your skin and keep it in tip top shape so your skin care products are more effective and go on more smoothly!
  • DON’T SKIP YOUR SKINCARE REGIMEN
It might save you a few minutes as you rush in between holiday activities, but in the end taking the time to follow through with cleansing, moisturizing and caring for your skin will pay off by keeping your skin looking younger and healthier.
  • STOP BUYING TRENDY PRODUCTS
How many times have you been suckered into buying skin care products that promise the world and then leave you with nothing but an empty wallet? Book an appointment with one of our estheticians to discuss your personal skincare needs and we can help steer you in the right direction!
  • GET RID OF PRODUCTS THAT HAVE BEEN SITTING AROUND TOO LONG
Generally you should throw out mascara after about 3 to 4 months, foundations after one year (oil-based may last longer), 2 years for eyeliner and 2 years for lipstick. Bacteria can grow on products which is a concern, especially in those used around the eyes.
  • EXERCISE EVERY DAY
Not only is exercise a good stress reliever, it helps increase the oxygen in your skin and can keep you looking younger. But don’t let your skin take a hit just because you’ve discovered an amazing new workout. The ugly truth is that when we work up a good sweat and don’t shower off soon after, we’re leaving our skin susceptible to acne. Wear moisture-wicking clothes during your workout and change into clean, dry clothes afterward. Back home, hop into the shower as soon as possible.
  • TAKE IT EASY ON HANDS
Our hands are the easiest giveaway as to our correct age, so if we want to keep people guessing we’ve got to take hand care seriously! To do so, keep SPF hand cream throughout your house, at the office, and in your car. And if you happen to already have sunspots on your hands, treat your hands with our IPL  treatment to get rid of them ASAP.
  • AVOID RUBBING YOUR EYES
You may automatically rub your eyes when you’re tired or stressed, but this makes your eyes look red and can stretch and irritate the skin around the eyes. Keep your hands busy with a stress ball or anything else you can find to keep hands away from your eyes! And remember, when putting eye cream on, gently tap it on the area below your eyes and beneath your brows to avoid lines and wrinkles.
  • MOISTURIZE HABITUALLY
Make it a habit to moisturize regularly and at key times, like right after you get out of the shower while your skin is still damp. Also, make it a point to moisturize your feet so that you’re not stuck trying to undo months of neglect a week before sandal season! And don’t neglect your kisser! Keep lip balm or a lipstick with moisturizer handy. Winter weather tends to cause chapped and dry lips. Use moisturizing products with SPF protection to keep lips soft and healthy.
  • BE GENEROUS WITH SUNSCREEN
We’ve all heard about the importance of sunscreen in our skin care routine a million times but we’re not always consistent with it. Resolve to apply sunscreen to your face, neck, chest, hands and any other place that happens to be regularly exposed to the environment.
  • BOOK A YEARLY MOLE CHECK
Having a dermatologist survey your body once a year is crucial, even if you’re diligent about monthly self-exams.

These simple skin care resolutions are easy ways to make a big impact on the condition of your skin! Start incorporating these small changes and you’re sure to see the results of your hard work and consistency in your appearance!
