2016 is right around the corner, and with it comes new trends.

In terms of skincare, we should expect to see a lot of Antipollution products, especially since new studies highlight the role of pollution in contributing to acne, wrinkle, and inflammation. As such, more skincare brands are paying attention to it, in particular to the microscopic carbon particles from soot and traffic exhaust, which are really the main culprits behind the skincare concerns outlined above. And mountain folks beware! These carbon particles doesn’t just affect city folks because as it turns out, air quality in rural areas has also declined, and wind moves around, which means pollution does too. Perhaps the most frightening fact of all this is that the carbon particles from pollution can sink deep into the skin’s dermal layer, releasing free radicals that over time tax skin’s collagen.

Fixing the problem

Since pollution causes free-radical damage to the skin, the solution to the problem will focus on reversing the free-radical damage. New products in 2016 will therefore begin to feature ingredients that go beyond the traditional antioxidants like vitamin  A and E, which only neutralize oxygen-based radicals and do nothing to fight off the nitrogen-based free radicals from pollution.
