The ads are screaming at you constantly this time of year…from your inbox, to your tv, to the newspapers bursting with special inserts. Everywhere you look there’s another deal being announced and another sale or special to entice you. This time of year the hype is fun and the deals are crazy and all of it can seem overwhelming.

And now we have Small Business Saturday® – a day to support the local businesses we love. This year, the big day is November 24 and we hope you to get out and Shop Small on the busiest shopping weekend of the year.

For every $100 spent in a small business, $68 returns back to the local economy from payroll and taxes to related business expenditures? That local return drops to $43 if spent in a big-box store.

I for one, LOVE shopping at local businesses where you can get personal service and personal attention (shout out to all of The Village Shopping Center's small businesses). As for us, we'll be offering our gift certificate sale on Black Friday (get a free $25 gift certificate with the purchase of $125 certificate), but we'll be doing a little something extra on Small Business Saturday.
