Acne is a common skin condition caused by inflammation of oil-producing sebaceous glands. Although acne problems usually begin between the ages of 10-13, it can persist for years, and for some, even follow them into adulthood. Mild acne will clear with a good skin care regimen and some help from a topical product. However, for those with moderate to severe acne, some additional treatments are necessary. Unfortunately, acne can be difficult to treat. Topical creams often cause redness and irritation, oral antibiotics can lead to an upset stomach and sensitivity to light, not to mention that studies indicate that about 40% of skin bacteria has become resistant to antibiotics, therefore making them a weak ally in the fight against breakouts. So how should one effectively treat acne? Is there any hope? The answer is YES, with the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment for acne.
IPL ACNE TREATMENT
IPL Acne Therapy is an effective treatment that destroys the most common bacteria that cause acne without drugs, pain, or downtime by targeting acne and shrinking the sebaceous glands that produce oil. IPL Acne Therapy is also FDA approved for the treatment of acne and is one of the safest acne treatments available, with no known side effects. Before the IPL treatment for acne, the esthetician will numb the client’s face, then spread a cold gel on the area to be treated, following with pulses of intense light onto the skin. After the treatment, the patient’s skin might be a little bit more pink than usual, but this effect will quickly go away.
RESULTS?
Although the IPL Acne Treatment is an effective way to get rid of acne, first time patients shouldn’t expect instant results from one treatment alone. In fact, the AAD reports that AT LEAST THREE TREATMENTS are generally needed before the patient can begin to see significant improvement. Normally, dermatologists recommend 5-10 treatments, often twice a week. Once a patient completes an entire series of Acne IPL treatments, they can expect their acne to remain in remission for at least six months, with some having even better results. Lucky for our clients, for the entire month of November, Barris Laser & Skincare is offering a series of 10 IPL Acne Treatments for $800! (regularly $900).
