Goodbye Vacation, hello burns, bites, blemishes… Ever felt like that after a few days off enjoying yourself in the Summer? Worry not, we have a solution for whatever it is that ails you after all that lovely time off! Read on for tips on how to combat you post vacation beauty issues (post-vacay blues aside):

BLEMISHES

There are always so many reasons why breakouts occur, but in the Summer blemishes seem almost unavoidable. Between tanning oils that may spread to your face, traveling in recycled air, or simply excess sweating, acne can have a heyday on your skin. So what’s a girl to do? Make sure you use a cleanser with salicylic acid every other day to fight bacteria trapped under the skin and always cleanse sweaty skin as soon as possible. If the blemish is inflamed, applying a little Visine on it will temporarily reduce redness.

BUG BITES

If the bug bite is itching nonstop, apply an ammonia soaked cotton ball directly on the bite for 10-30 seconds- the ammonia will shock the nerve endings of your skin and stop the itching. If you’re more on the puffy side, applying topical arnica to the area works wonders.

SUNBURNS & PEELING SKIN

To get through a sunburn you need to reduce the inflammation both internally and externally. Taking two ibuprofen every four hours and drinking 4 or more cups of green tea throughout the day helps with internal inflammation. For a topical, external solution apply aloe to skin and moisturize with argan oil every 4 hours. If after a few days your skin starts peeling, there’s nothing to do but wait it out. And by all means, resist the urge to pick!

UNWANTED TAN LINES

Unfortunately nothing gets rid of tan lines instantaneously, but you can speed up the fading process by using a glycolic acid body wash to expedite cell turnover. In the meantime, if those tan lines really bother you, use self-tanner to even things out.

POISON IVY

The last thing you want to do when you have poison ivy is to spread the plant oil to other areas of your body. The best solution then is to cover the area with a band-aid, or rinse the plant oil off with alcohol immediately after exposure. Once you have the rash contained to one area, apply some hydrocortisone cream to the rash and wait it out.
