Summer is a busy time- there are trips to take, mountains to climb, people to see, beaches to swim in… and with all the commotion, it’s easy to forget to take the extra steps to protect and nurture your skin. Summer may be slowly coming to a close, and even if you didn’t get one single sunburn thus far, the effects of sun exposure can still lead to aging skin, brown spots, and wrinkles. So here are some skincare tips to follow as summer comes to an end so you can finish the season on the highest note and start Fall with beautiful skin:
1.WASH YOUR FACE TWICE DAILY
All those sweaty hikes and runs and bike rides are a fun way to stay fit, but they usually don’t leave you the cleanest… so make sure to wash your face two times a day, although only once with a cleanser and a gentle rinse with only water as needed throughout the day. Again, it’s important to have clean skin in the heat, but it’s also just as important not to overdo it with cleansers in this harsh, dry Colorado weather. So cleanse once, rinse as needed throughout the day, and be sure to follow with a moisturizer suited for your skin type. We here at Barris LOVE Image’s Prevention Plus Daily Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 ($35) which magically works with EVERY skin type and tone!
2. DON’T FORGET TO KEEP YOUR SKIN PROTECTED FROM WRINKLES AND AGE SPOTS WITH A DAILY SUNSCREEN
Even if it’s cloudy outside or the weather is starting to cool. Your skin won’t know the difference and will burn just the same!
3. WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
Even if you wear sunscreen on a regular basis, it’s still a good idea to protect from the sun the other areas of your skin you usually don’t pay much attention to. Think hats to protect your scalp, sunglasses to protect the sensitive skin around your eyes, and long pants and flowy sleeves to keep you cool and away from harmful rays while still looking chic.
4. STAY HYDRATED
and I’m not talking Margaritas here! Remember all that sweat from that earlier bike ride or gym sesh? Time to replenish and keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water, especially when outside.
5. ADDRESS SUN-DAMAGED SKIN WITH A MIX OF SPECIAL TREATMENTS AND TOPICAL PRODUCTS
Frustrated that you have more freckles, dark age spots, and a blotchy skin tone after summer? Address the problem with a power combo of topical products and treatments. If you want to even out your skin tone, glycolic acid lotions used at night are the most powerful in getting rid of hyperpigmentation problems, helping even out dark patches. If products alone aren’t cutting it, book an appointment for our IPL Photofacial, which uses intense pulsed light to rid your skin of redness and/or sun spots.
6. EXFOLIATE SKIN
Skin is always dull and rough after months of fun in the sun and outdoor activities, and when your skin is covered in dry, dead skin cells, it needs more than a hydrating moisturizer to make it feel soft again so make sure to exfoliate skin. You can do this at home with a cleanser like Image’s Skincare MD Cleanser or a masque, like Image’s Ageless Total Resurfacing Masque ($28). However, if you really want amazing and skin-transforming exfoliation, try our microdermabrasion treatment! It is sure to reveal the smooth skin underneath and improve absorption of your skin care products.
PRO TIP:
Add dee pore cleansing to your at-home exfoliating cleanse by using a Clarisonic Brush with your favorite cleanser!
7. REHYDRATE & REPAIR LIPS
Weathered and chapped lips tell the tale of your outdoor adventures, but they’re also painful, cracked, and vulnerable as the weather cools down. So rehydrate and repair lips as soon as possible by using a deeply hydrating lip quencher like Image’s Ormedic Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex.
