If you’re looking for a quick solution for dull and tired skin; then a Microderm could be the answer! Microdermabrasion is one of the easiest and most effective anti-aging treatments you can get. It is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that removes the outer layer of dead skin cells by use of a diamond-tip microderm machine. This treatment promotes cell rejuvenation leaving your skin softer, smoother and cleaner. We follow this procedure with hydrating, repairing and nourishing serums to calm and revitalize the skin.

What is a Microderm?

Microdermabrasion is a simple, is a non-invasive procedure that exfoliates and removes the superficial layer of dry, dead skin cells to reveal younger and healthier skin. The procedure uses diamond-tip wand to gently polish the skin. In addition to clearing imperfections on your face, microdermabrasion can also improve your skin’s texture and tone, reduce fine wrinkles, tackle sun damage and enlarged pores, and even treat stretch marks.

Microdermabrasion can be carried out on all skin types but it should not be done on skin that has a suntan or active infection and, should be done with caution in skin of color to avoid pigmentation issues.

What conditions is Microdermabrasion used for?

Microdermabrasion is used to minimize fine lines, wrinkles, minor acne scars and reduce large pores, mild pigment irregularities, age spots and stretch marks. It may be used on the face, neck, chest, back, feet and hands. While it is a very safe procedure, it is not recommended for clients who have severe acne, rosacea, dermatitis or eczema.

Is Microdermabrasion safe?

Yes. Microdermabrasion is gentle and safe and painless. While side effects are very rare, you may experience minor skin irritation or sensitivity after treatment. These side effects are usually mild and brief. Should skin irritation persist, consult your doctor or other health professional.

Does it hurt?

If you’re nervous about receiving this treatment, don’t worry. Microdermabrasion is not painful. You may feel a mild discomfort at most. The procedure has been compared to the rough lick of a cat’s tongue. Your comfort is paramount, so let us know how you’re feeling during the procedure. We can adjust the intensity and slow down. Your microdermabrasion treatment should never be painful.

How many treatments are required?

While you will see noticeable improvement after the first treatment, for best results, you should have 5-12 treatments, spaced 2-3 weeks apart. You may want to have periodic maintenance treatments to continue combating the signs of aging and to keep your skin looking polished and smooth.

What are the immediate results of a Microderm?

The skin takes on a pinkish glow immediately after the first treatment. The rosiness will fade the following day, revealing the skin’s improved tone and color. Once the series of treatments is completed, you will notice a more radiant, vibrant and firmer skin. Lines and scars are visibly reduced, and the skin has better texture.

How long is recovery?

Recovery is often immediate. There is no downtime with this procedure, and you can immediately resume normal activities. However, clients are advised to avoid sun exposure and to apply moisturizer to minimize peeling. Sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher is also recommended.

Microdermabrasion Aftercare

While there’s no real downtime with a microdermabrasion facial, you can expect some redness, so we wouldn’t schedule it the morning of a big event. You should also avoid wearing makeup for the rest of the day. A calming moisturizer and sunscreen applied after treatment should keep you comfortable and protected. As for post-care, avoid retinols or glycolic acid for several days since your skin may be more sensitive. Be sure to use a good moisturizer to help the skin stay hydrated. We also like adding in growth factors and peptides to help rejuvenate the skin. It’s also important to avoid using exfoliants a week before the treatment so you don’t over exfoliate the skin.
