No more painful waxing, plucking, electrolysis, or razors! Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. The hair pigment absorbs the light, which breaks it up into tiny pieces that you flush out naturally. The laser also damages the hair follicle walls, which makes them incapable of growing new hair.
Laser Hair removal uses the advanced technology of laser energy to remove unwanted hair faster and more effectively than any other procedure including electrolysis. Laser Hair removal can treat large areas like the back, shoulders, arms, legs and is gentle enough for sensitive areas like the face.
Those who have pale skin and dark hair respond best to laser hair removal. Light colored hair is least responsive. At Barris Laser we can safely treat skin types 1-4. Skin types 5 or 6 cannot be treated with our laser (see Fitzpatrick Scale blog). For a free skin typing and laser hair removal consultation call us at 303-440-9493. One of our laser specialists will be happy to skin type you and laser a small test patch to find the safest laser for your skin.
To have the most effective treatment, if you have been tanning, waxing, plucking or using depilatories on the area, please discontinue at least 4 weeks prior to treatment. For your appointment, arrive with the area shaven with a minimal amount of growth and ready for treatment. The laser energy is absorbed by the pigment (not effective on blonde, red & white/gray color) in the hair follicle. In a fraction of a second, all hairs in their active growth phase are disabled.
Laser hair removal treats hair during its growth cycle. Generally a series of 6-8 treatments are necessary to achieve desired result.
Treatments may vary from 15 to 35 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. When the pulse of light is delivered, the sensation is similar to a snap of a rubber band. After treatment, he skin cleansed, and a sunscreen is applied. Topical anesthesia can be used for maximum comfort.
